Introduction

As an Aircraft Handling Agent at Dutch Caribbean Islandhopper you will work on the airside of your assigned airport(s). You are part of our front-line operational team, and you ensure the safe, efficient, and timely handling of our aircraft while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and service.

Your duties include the operation of ground support equipment, the handling of baggage & cargo, and the operation of aircraft doors. You will perform your tasks according to the Approved Handling Procedures of Dutch Caribbean Islandhopper.

This physically active and hands-on position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, value teamwork, and are passionate about aviation.

Key Responsibilities

Following is a brief overview of the key-responsibilities:

  • Inspect & Prepare Ground Service Equipment prior to use;

  • Perform inspections of the Ramp Area so as to remove any FOD “Foreign Objects which could cause Damage";

  • Setup the necessary equipment in the designated area prior to aircraft arrival;

  • Perform aircraft Marshaling (or Wing Clearance Guidance);

  • Install chocks, cones and other essential items around the aircraft;

  • Operate a variety of Ground Service Equipment;

  • Operate aircraft panels & doors;

  • (Un)Load baggage and cargo in accordance with mass & balance requirements;

  • Accept/Deliver Baggage from/to passengers on the ramp;

  • Transport Baggage & Cargo to/from airport facilities; and

  • Perform pushback procedures.

In addition, you will:

  • Follow all safety, operational, and security protocols;

  • Communicate effectively with team members, flight crew, and operations personnel;

  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of equipment & ramp areas; and

  • Support irregular operations (Flight delays, Diversions, and/or Emergency Responses).

Position Prerequisites

Applicants must:

  • Be a national of the country where the base is located, or be eligible to obtain a residence and work permit for that location.

  • Be between 21 and 40 years old;

  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently;

  • Be medically fit; and

  • Hold a valid driver’s license.

There are no other formal education requirements for this position.

Training Requirements

All selected will receive in-house training and must pass both written & practical exams. Upon successful completion, candidates will undergo on-the-job training, followed by a performance evaluation period.

Mental & Physical Requirements

The airport environment can be fast-paced and demanding. Applicants must have high stress tolerance. The role involves physical tasks, including the use of equipment and the manual handling of baggage and cargo. Applicants must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties safely.

Working Conditions

Work is conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, including sun, rain, and wind. You will be exposed to aircraft noise and prop/jet blast.

Work Schedule

You will be scheduled as per variable shifts. You must be available to work on weekends and on public holidays as required by operational needs.

Uniform & Equipment

You will be required to wear the company-provided uniform, including identification and personal protective equipment (PPE). Proper and consistent use of uniform and PPE is mandatory at all times.
