Integrated Commercial Pilot

In 2023 we will be introducing our Integrated Commercial Pilot Program. This Zero to Hero program is aimed to train you to become a Commercial Pilot, and build up-to 1500 hours of experience as a Pilot at Dutch Caribbean Islandhopper (DCI).

Ground Training

The first phase of training is on the ground. Here you will obtain the theoretical knowledge required to become a safe aviator.

Our Ground training is based on the European ATPL System, This gives you in-dept knowledge of aircraft systems, and the flight environment.


Your ground training is completed with a School Exam for which the minimum score is 80%. When passed you will receive your sign-off for the Theoretical Exam as conducted by the Cura
çao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA).

Our ground training is provided with Interactive ATPL Books which are based on the European (EASA) System.

Flight Training

During the 150 hours of flight training you will learn how to safely operate the aircraft during all phases of flight.

Flight Training includes:

150 Hour of Flight Training
Instrument Rating (IR)
Single Engine Land Class Rating (SEL)
High Performance Experience
Complex Experience

Optionally trainees may also opt to add a Multi-Engine Land Class Rating to program.

Regional Experience

During flight training will fly to/from a wide selection of airports in the Caribbean & Latin America.

Practical Exam

Flight Training is completed with an oral & practical exam by the CCAA. Succesful completion earns you your Commercial Pilot Wings.

The selection

To enroll to this program there is a selection process. This selection requires you to undergo a series of evaluations in order to determine if you have what it takes to take command of an airplane.

General Requirements

Minimum Age: 17
Medical: Class I
English: ICAO Level 5 or 6
Education: HAVO/VWO

Commercial Flying Experience

Trainees who successfully complete the various stage checks will be given the unique opportunity to build up-to 1500 hours of flying experience as a Pilot at DCI.
